Education Ministry: Primary, secondary schools to resume classes amid strike
Skopje, 10 April 2022 (MIA) – The classes in primary and secondary schools will resume on Monday amid the announced strike of the Independent Trade Union for Education, Science and Culture (SONK).
“The schools will remain open for the students and continue the teaching processes,” Ministry of Education said in a press release on Sunday.
“According to the laws on primary and secondary education, the education activities must be realized throughout the school year. Education activities must not be suspended, except in emergency circumstances such as crisis, declared pandemic, fires, floods or other major natural disasters, for which the Government decides and regulates the manner of organizing and conducting classes until the end of the school year,” reads the press release.
The school authorities are obliged to organize the education process and to enable the students to continue in-person classes, which were re-established after a year and a half of remote learning due to pandemic, the press release reads.
