Skopje, 10 October 2024 (MIA) – Holding its constitutive session Thursday, the Economic and Social Council will discuss demands of the social partners before making joint decisions and measures, Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi said after signing an agreement establishing the new Economic and Social Council.

Economy Minister Besar Durmishi was elected as head of the Economic Social Council at today’s session, its first since the formation of the new government. On October 1, which marked the government’s first 100 days in office, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) and the employers’ organization said they expected a session of the Economic and Social Council to be scheduled soon.

“We will listen to the demands of both the trade unions and employers before making joint decisions and measures because all the involved sides share one common goal to improve the standards of our citizens,” stated Durmishi.

Transparent social dialogue, he stressed, is of vital importance for the government and all decisions, measures and laws will be passed in a transparent way.
