The north-east of the country was badly affected by snow drifts, and an emergency was declared in a number of municipalities. The port and the airport were closed in the city of Varna on the Black Sea.
Dozens of villages in the east were left without power. The seaport of Varna East and the city's international airport were closed.
A woman died in Varna when a tree fell on her on Saturday evening. In Sofia, a man was killed when a tree fell on his car while driving. His wife, who was with him in the car, was severely injured.
