Skopje, 1 August 2023 (MIA) - All ministers from the ranks of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), i.e. First Deputy PM Artan Grubi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani, Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi, Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri, and Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi, said Tuesday they have signed and submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski. 

"As a holder of an important public office, aware that the well-being of our citizens and their future undoubtedly belongs to the big European family, bearing in mind the appointment of the political entity to which I belong and which in principle upholds the country's integration both in NATO and the EU, as well as close and deepened relations with the United States; bearing in mind the opposition's stipulation in order to pass the constitutional amendments in the Parliament, aware of the importance of the integration and the dignified future of the Republic of North Macedonia, Respected Prime Minister, I submit my resignation from the post, and I ask that it becomes effective the moment the opposition votes for the constitutional amendments in Parliament and they come into force," read the ministers' resignations posted on Facebook. 

The DUI ministers point out that they feel proud and honored with the trust given by leader Ali Ahmeti, the Democratic Union for Integration and the citizens, as well as by the Prime Minister's trust to be part of the reform and integrated cabinet and to serve the citizens.

DUI-nominated ministers announced on July 30 they are resigning from their posts, becoming effective on the day the opposition votes for the constitutional amendments.

"The Ministers and Government officials from the ranks of the Democratic Union for Integration submit the resignations from their posts. The resignations, Mr. Prime Minister, are automatically effective from the moment when the opposition votes for the constitutional amendments," read Ali Ahmeti's letter posted on Facebook. 

One of the opposition's demands at the leaders' meeting in early June was the formation of a DUI-less government.
