DUI's Grubi: All gov’t coalition partners against PM Zaev’s resignation
Skopje, 1 November 2021 (MIA) – DUI unequivocally expressed support for the policies of the government and PM Zoran Zaev and of the whole ruling coalition to keep pursuing the European and reform-oriented agenda, DUI secretary general Artan Grubi said Monday after PM Zoran Zaev’s coordination meeting with the government junior coalition partners.
According to him, not a single participant in the meeting expressed any doubt in the parliamentary majority.
“All partners in the government are absolutely against PM Zaev’s resignation,” Grubi told reporters following the PM’s resignation announced last night.
He called Zaev’s decision “rushed”. “He should continue to lead the government and implement policies, because it is what the citizens expect,” added Grubi, who also serves as first deputy prime minister and minister for political system.
Participants in the meeting, he said, concluded the country needs stability, predictability and partnership with the Euro-Atlantic community.
“PM Zaev’s resignation is unnecessary. The country held local elections, not parliamentary,” Grubi said adding the government was entrusted a mandate on July 15, 2020 to lead the country into the Euro-Atlantic family.
We, he noted, believe that the incumbent government is the only one capable of solving the dispute with Sofia and start negotiations with the EU.
“Also, the incumbent government is the only one that could foster inter-ethnic relations and guarantee the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the Prespa Agreement and the Friendship Treaty with Bulgaria.
