Skopje, 26 September 2023 (MIA) – Public Enterprise “Drisla” faces a fine between EUR 110.000 and EUR 120.000, as well as a fine of EUR 6.000 for its management following an emergency inspection that identified higher concentrations of pollutants in Markova Reka (Marko’s River) than the permissible limit.
In a press release Tuesday, the Government informed that the inspection was carried out on September 4 following reports from the inhabitants of the village of Batinci, and it was visually determined that the river was polluted. Three samples from the river were taken by accredited environmental laboratory Euromak Kontrol, which determined that the concentration of pollutants from the landfill’s discharge exceeded the permissible limit.
The Government said the State Environmental Inspectorate will submit a request to the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje to initiate a procedure against the Public Enterprise and its management.
