Vevchani, 18 May 2025 (MIA) — The Macedonian folk song and dance ensemble Drimkol will hold Friday its annual concert under the title "Echo of the East" at the Vevchani Cultural Center, MIA's Struga correspondent reports.
The concert will present folk songs and dances from eastern parts of the country, according to Drimkol ensemble president Toshe Chochoroski.
The singers and dancers will be wearing traditional attire of the region and the orchestra will perform on authentic regional instruments, he said.
"We have obtained folk attire from Pijanec, Ovche Pole, Kochansko Pole and Berovo," Chochoroski said.
"The Berovo dance, which we have saved for last, is very attractive.
"Featuring a brass orchestra and trumpet players, it includes all of Berovo's ethnicities: Macedonian villagers, Berovo townspeople and members of the Roma community," he said, adding that the dance will be performed in front of Vevchani's Assumption of Holy Virgin Mary church, of the same name as the church "which is in fact the meeting place of all those ethnicities in Berovo."
Over 100 members of Drimkol will take part in the concert, which will also feature Shtip's Sergej Mihajlov Music School students of national instruments. mr/
