Deputy PM Nikoloski and Kosovo’s Infrastructure Minister Aliu discuss road and rail connection

Skopje, 18 November 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski met Monday with the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of Kosovo, Liburn Aliu, within the frameworks of the joint session between the governments of the two countries.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Transport, the meeting focused on quality infrastructure connections between the two countries with a special emphasis on road and rail connection. 

Deputy PM Nikoloski said the country has launched a strong investment cycle in the construction of a modern road and rail network, stressing that it remains committed to the motorway connection between the two countries. The meeting also reopened the topic of reinstating rail traffic between the two countries and constructing a joint train station. 

“We have good bilateral relations with Kosovo and today’s joint government session confirms that. Kosovo is our neighbor; a significant economic partner, and we must work together on regional development and cooperation. Together with Minister Aliu we discussed joint projects to accelerate the region’s economic development and contribute to improved communication, facilitated transport and better conditions for the citizens and businesses,” Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said. 

The two ministers also discussed improving conditions in road transport and passenger traffic. The ministers agreed to intensify cooperation and promote policies related to regional connectivity.
