Skopje, 8 October 2024 (MIA) - First Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti met Monday with Nicole Varnes, Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy, expressing gratitude for the unwavering U.S. support to North Macedonia, especially in the EU integration process.

"We discussed the strong bilateral ties and the importance of further strengthening of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest," said Deputy PM Mexhiti.

He highlighted the importance of his role as environment minister amid the major challenges in the field - energy crisis, decades-long air pollution, waste management, clean water and waste water treatment, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release.

The Deputy PM also stressed the importance of cooperation in managing the climate crisis and promoting sustainable development.

"I am fully committed to environmental policies because this is the best way to improve the quality of people's lives," said Mexhiti.
