Deputy PM Fetai meets Belgian Ambassador Lambert
- Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Arben Fetai met Monday with the new Sofia-based Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Paul Lambert, and discussed solutions to overcome the last condition that prevents North Macedonia to start negotiations for EU membership.
Skopje, 16 December 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Arben Fetai met Monday with the new Sofia-based Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Paul Lambert, and discussed solutions to overcome the last condition that prevents North Macedonia to start negotiations for EU membership.
Deputy PM Fetai presented Ambassador Lambert with his priorities, which focus on the fight against corruption, increasing transparency of the work of state institutions and process of confiscating illegally acquired assets. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation with the civil sector as a key partner for implementing reforms and strengthening the rule of law, his Office said in a press release.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views and ideas on strengthening cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Kingdom of Belgium, especially in the context of European integration, and economic and political areas.
Fetai expressed gratitude for Belgium's support, stressing that, given his close ties with Belgium, he would happily play the role of a bridge between the two countries. ssh/ik/
