Deputy Europe minister: Government committed to fighting against corruption

Skopje, 2 February 2026 (MIA) — Deputy Minister of European Affairs Viktorija Trajkov held Monday a meeting with experts from the organized crime and corruption assessment mission comprising representatives of state institutions and European Union representatives, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.


At the meeting, Deputy Minister Trajkov stressed the importance of continued monitoring and implementation of the recommendations from previous assessment missions as well as the importance of this process for the country's European integration.


"The government is strongly committed to strengthening the rule of law, transparency and the fight against corruption as well as promoting cooperation with the EU as part of the accession process. This meeting is an opportunity for constructive dialogue, exchange of experiences and strengthening institutional cooperation in promoting the rule of law," Trajkov said.

 

 

The goal of the assessment mission, led by experts from EU member states and European Commission representatives, is to make a detailed analysis of the country's progress in ​​asset confiscation, the quality of investigations and court proceedings as well as dealing with corruption in public procurement.


According to the release, the experts have been holding meetings with representatives of the judiciary, the prosecution and law enforcement agencies as well as institutions responsible for preventing corruption, financial control, confiscated asset management and public procurement. 


The assessment mission puts special emphasis on the quality and efficiency of investigations, institutional coordination and the application of special investigative measures, the release said. mr/
