Deposits, loans continue to rise at annual level: central bank
Skopje, 21 October 2021 (MIA) – Deposits in September 2021 registered an 8.3% increase at annual level, while loans rose by 6.3%, North Macedonia’s National Bank said in a press release on Thursday. At monthly level, total deposits dropped by 0.8% due to due to the lower corporate deposits by 2.8%, amid growth of household deposits by 0.5%. According to central bank data, total loans increased both on a monthly and annual basis, amid increased lending to both sectors, with a more pronounced contribution of the household sector. Corporate loans registered an upward monthly and annual change of 0.6% and 4.8%, respectively, while household loans increased by 0.8% and 7.5%, on a monthly and annual basis, respectively. Moreover, denar loans make a slightly larger contribution to the growth on both bases. In September, consumer and housing loans registered the largest increase. Moreover, car loans registered a monthly increase of 2.4%, while on an annual basis, they registered a downtrend of 16.9%. Loans on credit cards decreased on both a monthly and annual basis.
