Copenhagen, 1 September 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Denmark will reduce the number of employees at the Russian embassy in Copenhagen so that it matches the number of employees at the Danish embassy in Russia.

A maximum of five diplomats and 20 other employees will be allowed to work at the Russian embassy in Copenhagen going forward, the Danish Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

According to the ministry, there have been negotiations about visas for the employees in the Danish embassy in Moscow for some time.

These negotiations had not led to a conclusion, because Russia had tried to apply for visas for Russian secret service staff in the course of the negotiations, the ministry said.

The reduction of staff at the Russian embassy in Copenhagen is to be completed by September 29.
