Copenhagen, 16 January 2022 (dpa/MIA) — Cultural and entertainment venues re-opened across Denmark on Sunday after being shuttered for a month, as the government relaxed its Covid-19 rules despite a high number of infections. The public was welcomed back to museums, zoos and amusement parks. Cinemas, theaters and concert halls could also open their doors for the first time in four weeks, although capacity limits were imposed. In most places visitors must wear a mask and prove via a coronavirus health pass that they have been vaccinated, recovered or recently tested negative. Danes, however, cannot go to discos just yet: Nightlife will remain closed until at least the end of the month. Denmark, a country with a population of 6 million, has frequently recorded more than 20,000 new infections per day recently. On Saturday alone more than 25,000 cases were logged. Yet public health officials say the infection figures seem to have plateaued, while the number of hospital patients with a Covid-19 infection has been fairly stable at between 700 and 800.
