Skopje, 15 February 2024 (MIA) - The Public Health Institute in Skopje declared the whooping cough (pertussis) epidemic with 34 cases currently registered state-wide. Let me use this opportunity to say to all citizens, especially parents with young children, that vaccines are the greatest accomplishment in healthcare. That is why I urge parents to vaccinate their children, caretaker Minister of Health Ilir Demiri said on Thursday.
According to him, unvaccinated children should not return to kindergarten.
"First they should be vaccinated, then return. I think this was one of the criteria and recommendations of the Commission for Contagious Diseases. All vaccinated children should go to kindergarten. Regarding the unvaccinated, you should ask the parents who will take care of their child," Demiri told reporters. ssh/ik/
