Skopje, 4 December 2023 (MIA) — The Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs, chaired by Arber Ademi, met Monday with the Delegation of Czech Parliament's Committee on European Affairs, chaired by Vladislav Vilímec.

"The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs Arber Ademi highlighted the traditional friendly ties with the Czech Republic, including the excellent cooperation in all areas, which next year will mark 30 years since their establishment. Ademi also underlined EU's engagement in the Western Balkan region from the aspect of progress and the start of our negotiations for EU membership, including the Czech Republic," the Parliament said in a press release.

Ademi informed that the voting procedure for constitutional amendments has already started in Parliament and requires a two-thirds majority.

The Czech Parliamentary Committee Chairman Vladislav Vilímec reiterated Czech’s support for North Macedonia's EU integration process and said that "any delay results in losing time and missing the positive momentum for the start of negotiations with EU."

"In doing so, he expressed his willingness to share their experiences with EU membership. Committee members Marija Petrushevska and Sanela Shkrielj also took part in the meeting and stressed the country's preparedness to implement necessary European reform, as well as the determination of citizens and political parties for a European state," the press release reads. ssh/mr
