Skopje, 2 April 2024 (MIA) - Political parties and coalitions are scheduled to submit the MP candidate lists to the State Election Commission (SEC) for the May 8 parliamentary elections by the end of Tuesday.

The SEC is also set to confirm the Electoral Roll for the April 24 presidential and May 8 parliamentary elections.

At an urgent session on Monday, MPs adopted amendments to the Electoral Code, which specify the provisions related to the numbers under which the candidates are listed on the ballots. With the amendments, the parties standing in both the presidential and parliamentary elections will be allowed to keep the same number for both elections. Parties that only participate in the parliamentary elections will have their numbers additionally determined in a draw at the State Election Commission.

The election campaign for the presidential elections begins on April 4 and will partially overlap with the campaign for the parliamentary polls, which starts on April 18.

The first round of the presidential elections will be held on April 24, whereas the runoff will take place in parallel with the parliamentary elections on May 8.
