Darko Janevski appointed MIA's new director general

Skopje, 30 April 2025 (MIA) — The state-owned Media Information Agency's supervisory board at a meeting Wednesday appointed Darko Janevski its new director general and administrative board chair.

 

Janevski has a degree from the state university Ss. Cyril and Methodius and has worked as a journalist and editor in several media outlets, including Fokus (1996-2000), Nova Makedonija (2000), Vecher (2000-2003), Puls (2002-2004), Fokus again (2005-2009), and Nova Makedonija again (2009-2013).

 

From 2013 to 2017, Janevski was editor-in-chief of the first private Macedonian newspaper Dnevnik. After the paper's demise in 2017, he hosted the "Bare-knuckled" political TV show on Alfa TV. Between 2018 and 2025, he edited the news portal Denesen.mk.

 

MIA's supervisory board also appointed Pandorka Arsovska Gacova administrative board member in charge of the general news service.

 

Arsovska Gacova is a seasoned journalist at MIA. She has already held the post of administrative board member and general service editor (between 2006 and 2017). 

 

With the appointment of the state-owned news agency's new leadership, Dragan Antonovski stepped down as MIA director general and Ana Cvetkovska is no longer administrative board member in charge of the general news service. mr/
