Cultural and Information Center mounts Anita Ognjanovska show

Skopje, 5 March 2025 (MIA) — The ninth solo exhibition by Macedonian painter Anita Ognjanovska, "At Peace," will open at the Cultural and Information Center, showcasing 40 of her latest abstract paintings.

In her works, Ognjanovska explores personal emotions and everyday moments in large format works that combine a variety of oil, acrylic, cold wax and mixed-media methods on canvas and convey a sense of deep symbolism.

Macedonian poet and art critic Vladimir Martinovski will speak about Ognjanovska's peintings. Ana Bunteska's poem “At Peace,” inspired by the exhibition, will be read at the opening.

"Ognjanovska presents her works as metaphors for life – seemingly simple, but layered with complex emotions and experiences," exhibition organizers wrote.

"Her abstract compositions explore the interaction between color and texture, creating a harmony that invites viewers to discover hidden meanings beneath the surface," they said, adding that Ognjanovska uses texture to symbolize the layers of time and experience.

Depicting horizons as a symbol of hope and endless possibilities, Ognjanovska's works contain elements of encouragement, "reminders that beneath chaos there is order, and beneath anxiety – peace." Her works also point to "love and passion as driving forces of creativity" as well as to "overcoming personal fears and finding inner courage," according to organizers.

The art show was curated by the Macedonian painter and graphic designer Kostadin Tanchev Dinka. mr/
