Criminal complaint against Skopje resident for “terrorism” after false bomb report on plane at Skopje Airport 

Skopje, 21 August 2025 (MIA) – Ministry of Interior reports that a criminal complaint has been filed against a Skopje resident for “terrorism.” He is suspected of falsely making bomb threat on a plane at Skopje Airport, leading to a temporary airport closure and flight delays.

“The Ministry of Interior’s Organized and Serious Crime Department – Counterterrorism Sector, has submitted a fast-track criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption against 26-year-old S.A. from Skopje, suspected of committing “terrorism” under Article 394-b of the Criminal Code,” the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

After investigations, it was revealed that on August 16 at 2:41 am, a false bomb threat was reported for a flight from Skopje International Airport to Turkey, leading to a temporary airport closure and delayed flights until counterterrorism checks were completed.

“On Wednesday, police conducted a court-ordered search at S.A.’s home in Kisela Voda, seizing items linked to the incident. He was arrested and admitted the act during questioning at the police station,” the Ministry of Interior said.

Earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that an investigation has been launched against a suspect in a terrorism case, and pre-trial detention has been recommended.
