COVID-19: Official PCR positivity rate 44.6%; 844 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 6 deaths, 188 reinfections
Skopje, 4 August 2022 (MIA) — Of the 1,890 SARS-CoV-2 tests done in North Macedonia's laboratories over the last 24 hours, 844 came back positive for the airborne virus. Of them, 188 were confirmed reinfections. And six deaths have been added to the country's official COVID-19 death toll, which is 9,387 at the moment, health authorities said Thursday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Institute of Public Health data, there are now 4,139 active SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide, of which 1,749 in Skopje. Of the 844 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 374 were diagnosed in Skopje. New infections were also reported in Kumanovo and Tetovo – 43 each, Bitola – 38, Prilep – 35, Veles – 33, Kavadarci and Ohrid – 30 each, Shtip – 24, Gevgelija – 23, Gostivar – 21, Struga – 20, Strumica, Negotino and Radovish – 19 each, Kichevo, Kochani and Kratovo – 9 each, Berovo – 8, Kriva Palanka – 7, Debar and Valandovo – 5 each, Resen and Krushevo – 4 each, Vinica and Demir Hisar – 3 each, Sveti Nikole, Bogdanci and Makedonska Kamenica – 2 each, Demir Kapija – one new case. Officially, 815 people recovered from their acute infection. Three people died from SARS-CoV-2 in the past 24 hours. They were from Skopje and they were aged 72, 76, and 83. All of them died in hospital. Three other deaths, dated July 5 to July 30, were added to the official COVID-19 death count. These people who died from the virus were from Tetovo (aged 85), Kavadarci (aged 74), and Ohrid (aged 70). Two of them died at home, and one person died in hospital. Since the start of the pandemic, 9,387 people have died in North Macedonia from SARS-CoV-2. The country's laboratories have performed a total of 2,123,580 coronavirus tests, officially logging 330,016 COVID-19 cases and declaring 316,490 recoveries. mr/
