Skopje, 22 July 2022 (MIA) — The national Steering Committee for Coordination and Management of the Crisis Management System held a session Friday to discuss its readiness for dealing with fires, concluding that the several recent forest fires in the country were contained. “The fires burning in the Municipality of Berovo as well as other fires throughout the country have been brought under control. The Ministry of the Interior, together with the Crisis Management Center, the Army, and the Protection and Rescue Directorate are on constant 24-hour duty monitoring the fires,” Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post. Previously, Macedonian Forests Maleshevo representative Vlado Klincharski told MIA that firefighting aircraft would continue aiding efforts to completely put out the Berovo fire early in the morning. Klincharski added that the fire had not been fully extinguished yet due to strong winds and high temperatures. mr/
