Skopje, 5 October 2022 (MIA) - A Council for Advancement of Education and Science will be formed after the government approved its establishment upon a proposal of the Education Ministry. The Council will aim at improving the quality of education and science, optimizing education, strengthening the evaluation and assessment systems, reforming curriculums to improve learning results, better orientation of vocational education and training programs toward the needs of the labor market and at making sure higher education programs reflect the needs of the labor market, said the Education Ministry. The body will be chaired by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, which will also include Education Minister Jeton Shaqiri, First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Gribu, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi, Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi and the Pedagogic Service, a state body that is part of the Education Ministry. The Ministry said it will also include officials of its strategic partners, including the Union of High School Students, the National Council for Higher Education and Scientific Activity, the Agency for Quality in Higher Education, the Accreditation Board for Higher Education, etc. "Under this decision, the Education Ministry will create policies based on information on the current functioning of the nationwide system as well as on international research on the factors that contribute to effective learning," said the press release.
