Coordination Council: Task force to deal with hybrid threats, security situation stable

Skopje, 19 December 2022 (MIA) – The security situation is stable and there are no real threats to the safety of the citizens, concluded the Council for the Coordination of Security and Intelligence Services at Monday’s meeting held after frequent reports of bomb threats in the country.  

A decision was made at the meeting to set up a task force on cybersecurity and hybrid threats.  

“The security and intelligence community maintains daily communication and coordination, also with international partners from the security sector, with whom they constantly work to exchange information and experience in dealing with hybrid threats,” the Government said in a press release after the third session of the Council for the Coordination of Security and Intelligence Services led by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski. 

The Public Security Bureau within the Ministry of Interior will head the task force on cybersecurity and hybrid threats. The team will be made of experts from the Public Security Bureau, the Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency and the Military Security and Intelligence Service Sector. Other institutions and experts are to be involved as necessary.  

“The team’s main tasks include expert assessment and recommendations, development of minimum standards and equipment to build resilience of each institution and strengthen communication with the public on a daily basis. Among other things, a conclusion has been adopted to step up communication with partner institutions in the area of the assessment of resilience and protection of the system,” reads the press release.  

The meeting was attended by First Deputy PM Artan Grubi, Interior Ministry Oliver Spasovski, Foreign Ministry Bujar Osmani, Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska, National Security Agency head Zarko Miloshevski, Intelligence Agency head Erold Musliu, Military Security and Intelligence Service Sector head, Colonel Ivica Ampov, as well as Public Security Bureau head Sasho Tasevski as ad-hoc. The session was convened at the initiative of the Council’s office led by Secretary Daniela Ilioska.
