CMC: Most wildfires localized and under control
Skopje, 10 August 2021 (MIA) – Majority of wildfires in the country have been localized and brought under control. Although partially under control, a fire burning near the Berovo village of Budinarci, eastern North Macedonia, is still active. Also, the Municipality of Saraj in Skopje has requested an army plane to help put out blazes overlooking a nearby village.
The wildfire in the village of Budinarci broke out on Aug. 2, which is being extinguished by firefighting teams deployed from Slovenia and Austria. The teams are working to fully localize the fire, although already being under control, said the Crisis Management Center (CMC).
Wildfires around Delchevo, after breaking out on Aug. 2, have been also localized and brought under control. The teams dispatched there have been pulled out. Staff members of the Golak Forestry Enterprise are on the ground to keep watch.
A wildfire near two villages in Shtip is still active, but under control. Firefighting teams have been pulled out, but a water cistern is nearby with local residents on the lookout.
Furthermore, a wildfire in the vicinity of Jasen hunting ground has let up and any threat of it spreading toward the hunting ground has been eliminated, according to CMC.
A wildfire is still active in the Municipality of Saraj in Skopje, which has caught inaccessible terrain. Municipal authorities have requested an army plane to help put it out.
A wildfire in the Minicipality of Petrovec near a village is under control posing no threat to the village and its residents. The fire has been redirected toward Sredno Konjare with the help of firefighters from Skopje, employees of the Forestry Enterprise and local residents.
In the Municipality of Prilep, a wildfire hasn’t been fully extinguished, but its intensity has been reduced following air support to localize the fire. A team of seven workers of the Forestry Enterprise and three soldiers is on the ground.
A wildfire, which has burned low-trunk forest, is yet to be extinguished but it has been put under control. A firefighting team is on the ground to keep watch.
