Los Angeles, 15 June 2025 (dpa/MIA) - The curtain-raiser of the Club World Cup between Lionel Messi's Inter Miami and Egyptian top side Al Ahly ended in a scoreless draw on Saturday.
Al Ahly applied plenty of pressure in the first half, with Inter Miami keeper Oscar Ustari making five saves to keep the score level at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
In a lively second half, Al Ahly relied on the steady hands of goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy. He turned away a close-range header from Fafa Picault before denying Messi a long-range curler in extra time.
Both teams will take to the field again on June 19, with Inter Miami facing Portuguese club Porto in Atlanta and Al Ahly taking on Brazilian club Palmeiras in New York.
