Closing of “EU for Human Rights: Mainstreaming non-discrimination concepts in legislation” project

Skopje, 21 June 2023 (MIA) - The Delegation of the European Union together with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and team of experts from the project, publicly mark on Wednesday the closing of the EU-funded project “EU for Human Rights: Mainstreaming non-discrimination concepts in legislation”.

 

Opening remarks will be delivered by Ambassador David Geer, Head of the Delegation of the European Union, Jovana Trenchevska, Minister of Labor and Social Policy and Naser Ziberi, Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination, NGO Polio Plus and project’s experts, the EU Delegation in Skopje said in a press release.

 

The aim of the event is to discuss the situation and practices for dealing with discriminatory cases, as well as present the activities implemented by the project with accent on key results and legal revisions developed in accordance with the project’s key objectives: alignment of the national legislation with the EU acquis on Anti-discrimination, harmonisation of laws in line with Article 48 of the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination (LPPD), and strengthening the capacities of national authorities and policymakers for prevention and protection against all forms of discrimination.

 

Representatives of competent ministries, national authorities which are policymakers in prevention and protection against discrimination, members of the National Coordination Body on Antidiscrimination, Members of the Parliament, representatives of international organizations, civil society organization, and media, will be participating in this event, reads the press release.
