Citizens' initiative provides over 4,000 silicone layers for Kochani burn patients

Citizens' initiative provides over 4,000 silicone layers for Kochani burn patients

Kochani, 22 June 2025 (MIA) - Over 400 boxes containing a total of 4,070 Atrauman Silicone single-use wound contact layers, have arrived in Kochani as part of the humanitarian drive to help burn patients following the deadly fire in a nightclub on March 16, said the Support Kocani citizens’ initiative.

These medical contact layers are intended to be used in the treatment of burns and sensitive skin injuries. They were donated as charity by citizens and companies that live and work in Slovenia.

“The layers will be donated to the Kochani General Hospital soon in coordination with health authorities and the needs of the patients. This donation is yet another reminder that true assistance sometime comes from unexpected places – from the hearts of common people, across borders and without any big words,” said the civil initiative.

Support Kochani, it added, expects new packages with medical materials to arrive from other countries, including Australia and Denmark.

On Saturday, the tenth March of the Angels took place in Kochani with the parents of the teenagers who died in the nightclub fire demanding accountability from the authorities.

Marching across the town, protesters demanded answers from the Interior Ministry and the Interior Minister, Panche Toshkovski, as to why the police officers, who were on duty that fatal night in March, failed to abide by the legal provisions and standards.
