Cinematographer JP Passi wins top award at Bitola Film Festival
Bitola, 21 September 2021 (MIA) – Finnish cinematographer Jani-Petteri Passi, who is the director of photography of “Compartment Number 6”, won the Golden Camera 300 at this year’s Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers’ Film Festival.
Passi said he was honored and surprised by the recognition.
“Thanks to all those who saw the movie, thanks to the journalists and the jury. Thank you all for making something nice to happen to me. I congratulate all my colleagues participating in the festival and I hope we will see each other in Bitola next year,” Passi said in a video address.
He is the second cinematographer in the festival’s history who has won the Golden Camera 300 twice.
According to the jury’s decision, Silver Camera 300 went to Danish cinematographer Kasper Tuxen (“The World Person in the World”) and Belgian cinematographer Ruben Impens (“Titanium”) won Bronze Camera 300.
Also, Portuguese cinematographer Joana Silva Fernandes was named winner of the small Camera 300 for short movies for her work in “Through the Haze”.
“Despite it all, we managed to keep the magic and dream our dream… We spent in Bitola six amazing days with a wonderful program, off-program, children’s movies, press conference. Everything went smooth as everyone can only wish for,” festival’s director Simeon Moni Dameski said at the closing ceremony of the 42nd Manaki Brothers Film Festival in Bitola.
