Cinematheque to screen shorts by Macedonian writers

Skopje, 2 July 2025 (MIA) -- The Cinematheque will screen seven short films by Macedonian writers at its Quiet Summer outdoor movie theater at 8 pm.
According to organizers, the program consists of shorts filmed in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
They include two shorts written and directed by Slavko Janevski ("Sun Behind Bars," 1957, and "David, Goliath and the Rooster," 1960).
Another of the shorts to be screened, "Your Birthday" (1961) directed by Zdravko Velimirovikj, was written by Ilhami Emin. Velimirovikj's "The Troubles of the Late K.K." (1963) was written by Kole Chashule.
The script for "Elevator Up, Elevator Down" (1967), directed by Dushan Naumovski, was written by Tashko Georgievski.
Boshko Smakjoski wrote the screenplay for "Monument" (1968) by Veljo Lichenoski, and Meto Jovanovski wrote "The Man in Black" (1970) by Branko Stavrev.
The program was assembled in collaboration with the Macedonian Writers Association. The shorts were selected by film scholar and MWA member Atanas Chuposki. mr/
