Cinematheque screens Christopher Papakaliatis's 'What If'

Skopje, 31 January 2026 (MIA) - The Cinematheque is set to screen on Saturday Greek filmmaker Christopher Papakaliatis's film 'What If'.

The screening is part of the Greek Embassy's Greek film cycle "Getting to Know Each Other", aimed at bringing the audience closer to contemporary Greek cinema.

'What If' is a touching romantic drama by Christopher Papakaliatis, creator of the internationally acclaimed Netflix series Maestro in Blue. Set in Athens during the economic crisis, the film follows the story of Demetris, a bachelor at the age of 33, who is a highly independent man, living a normal life. One night, his female German Shepherd called Lonesome insists on being taken out, and Demetris is up against a key decision. If he goes out he will meet Christina, the love of his life. If he stays in, he will not meet her.

The film explores the universal themes of fate, true love, and choice, while showing the impact of a severe economic crisis on people and personal relationships. It is a story told from two different perspectives.

The screening starts at 8 pm. Admission is free - first come, first served. The film is classified as suitable for viewers aged 16 or over, said the Greek Embassy.
