Cinematheque marks World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

Skopje, 28 October 2024 (MIA) – The Cinematheque on Monday marks World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (October 27) by presenting the project for digital remastering of “Letter”, a 2000 movie by film and theatre director Vasil Hristov – Vusi.
Officials of the institute for cultural heritage protection, the Cinematheque, the experts who remastered the movie will speak at the presentation. Hristov will also be in attendance, the Cinematheque has announced.
Also, starting Monday through Thursday, Macedonian films that are marking milestones in 2024 will be screened at the Cinematheque’s movie theatre. These include “Dae”, a 1979 short movie by Stole Popov, and “Before the Rain”, a 1994 feature by Milcho Manchevski. Both movies were nominated for an Academy Award.
“Under The Same Sky”, a 1964 movie directed by Ljubisha Georgievski and Miomir Miki Stamenkovikj, and “I Told You So”, a 1984 movie by Stevo Crvenkovski, and the documentary “Fire”, directed by Stole Popov in 1974, will be screened by Thursday in honor of World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.
Established by UNESCO, World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is marked annually by all film archives, cinematheques, museums and libraries focused on audiovisual heritage preservation to raise awareness about the necessity to protect and preserve film heritage as part of the collective culture memory, said the Cinematheque.
