Chinese Ambassador to N. Macedonia urges Russia and Ukraine to continue peace negotiations
Shtip, April 26 2022 (MIA) - China has always advocated for peace negotiations and has sided with justice, said Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zuo, who responded to a reporter's question concerning the conflict between Russia and Ukraine during Tuesday's visit to Goce Delchev University in Shtip. "Chinese President Xi Jinping has exchanged view with his counterparts, including EU leaders, French President Macron, German Chancellor Scholz, Russian President Putin and US President Biden. The Chinese President's message is that he's convinced that China will always be an important factor in securing world peace. China also suggest solving the Ukrainian issue," Zuo said. He pointed out that it's crucial for all affected parties to continue peace negotiations and stop the war in order to prevent civillian deaths and a humanitarian crisis. "The long-term solution of the crisis is to reject the Cold War mentality and the bloc confrontation. I'd also like to point out that sanctions won't lead to peace and stability, they'll only hurt the economies of many countries and affect the people's living standard. The people will be the ones paying the price of geopolitics and confrontation among great forces," Zuo said, who also pointed out that China will work with the citizens and government of North Macedonia in order to make negotiations easier and create a long-term security mechanism in Europe. dk/ba/
