Beijing, 7 December 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Leaders of the EU and China began their talks on mutual trade relations and the geopolitical situation on Thursday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the State Guest House in Beijing that the previous dialogues, for example on trade and the environment, had achieved good results this year, Chinese state television reported.

China and the EU must work together for global stability and development in the light of "unexpected change" in global politics, he said.

EU Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen travelled to the summit from Brussels with other delegates.

China and the EU have a "significant but complex economic and geopolitical relationship," von der Leyen wrote before the meeting on X, formerly known as Twitter.
