Charles III proclaimed King in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Charles III proclaimed King in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
London, 11 September 2022 (MIA) – Charles III has been officially proclaimed King in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during ceremonies across the UK on Sunday, following the death of the Queen.   Sunday’s proclamation ceremonies come after the reading of the Principal Proclamation of the new King, at a historic ceremony which took place at St. James’s Palace in the City of London on Saturday.   The reading of the proclamation in Belfast came after the clock tower bell gave a single chime. It was followed by a 21-gun salute and a rendition of “God Save the King” by the military band.   In Wales, the 3rd Battalion the Royal Welsh, supported by the Band of the Royal Welsh, were accompanied by the regimental mascot, a Welsh billy goat.   In Scotland, the proclamation ceremony took place at Mercat Cross in Edinburgh, and was followed by a 21-gun salute from Edinburgh Castle.
