Kriva Palanka, 12 January 2025 (MIA) — Fire investigators are examining the Kriva Palanka house in which a married couple, aged 87 and 85, died on Sunday morning as a fire swept their home.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, investigators were sent to scene of the fire of unknown origin earlier in the day.
The investigators have examined the electrical wiring and interviewed people. Also, an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death of the decedents.
The PPO said that so far there were no signs that the fire was intentional.
According to a police report, the house on Heroj Karposh St. in Kriva Palanka was owned by K. F. (87) and his wife P. F. (85).
"The fire was extinguished by the Kriva Palanka Territorial Fire Department, and K. F. and P. F. were found dead," the report said.
The emergency responders received the call about the fire around 9 am, from the decedents' grandson who lives in the house next door.
Two vehicles and nine firefighters were sent to quell the flames. Police and emergency medical workers were also called to pronounce the married couple dead.
One floor of the house, including the living room and the kitchen, was completely burned down.
The fire had most likely started several hours before it was reported, possibly during the night, firefighters said. mr/
