Shtip, 15 August 2025 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE is continuing with the evaluations for its candidates in the upcoming local elections as of today, and at the beginning of September the party’s executive committee will meet, Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE’s leader Hristijan Mickoski said Friday, adding that he expects all parameters to be known by start of next month.

Speaking today in Shtip, Mickoski answered reporters’ questions regarding the candidates for the country’s east and the cooperation with coalition partner ZNAM in Centar and Kumanovo, noting that since the final deadline for submissions is September 13, all names should be known in the first week of September.

“This applies not just to this region, but everywhere in Macedonia where municipal candidates have yet to be named,” he added.

Mickoski noted that they are very close to reaching an agreement with ZNAM on their candidates for Kumanovo and Centar.

“We are very close to reaching an agreement. I can’t say it’s finalized, but we’re nearly there. We’re still evaluating a few more municipalities to determine whether ZNAM’s or VMRO-DPMNE’s candidates have better performance among citizens. About two or three municipalities are the main focus of these discussions. I am confident that in the end we will agree on joint backing for the mayoral candidates. Regarding the councilor lists, the VMRO-led coalition will have its own, and ZNAM will have its own,” Mickoski said.
