Call issued for national representative to be selected for Venice Architecture Biennale
Skopje, 25 July 2022 (MIA) – The Ministry of Culture issued Monday a call for the selection of the country's representative in the 18th International Exhibition of Architecture in Venice in 2023, organized by the Venice Biennale.
The call, open until September 22, 2022, is posted on media outlets and on the website of the Ministry of Culture, alongside the application.
Legal entities that apply with projects in one of the following categories have the right to participate, including independent exhibition/project of an architect; exhibition/project of a group of architects. Legal entities means institutions from the field of culture (national, local or private), associations, unions, associations and other legal entities registered to perform activities in the field of culture/architecture.
The selection of projects will be carried out in accordance with the fulfilled priorities and conditions and the grades from the evaluation of the quality of the projects, said the Culture Ministry
The International Exhibition of Architecture in Venice will be held from May 20 to November 26, 2023, under the slogan "Laboratory of the Future" given by the curator of the exhibition, Lesley Lokko.
“The architects have a unique opportunity to create ambitious and creative ideas that help us imagine a common, more just and optimistic future”, architect and novelist Lesley Lokko says.
The theme provokes the architects to imagine that the Venice Biennale is itself a kind of laboratory of the future, a time and space in which questions are raised about the relevance of the discipline for this world and the world to come. Today, the word "laboratory" is generally associated with scientific experimentation and evokes images of a certain type of room or building. Lesley also demonstrates determination and courage in using two misused but indispensable words in her title – laboratory and future – to restore the full importance of their meaning. dk/ba/
