Bytyqi: Heating energy in Skopje to be delivered on time
Skopje, 29 July 2022 (MIA) - Heating energy will be delivered to households in Skopje on time, citizens should not worry, said Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi.   Speaking at Friday’s press conference at the Government, Bytyqi stressed that what’s important at this point is that the procedure to select a new economic heating energy operator be transparent and completed timely.   “According to the Law on Energy, BEG must fulfill its obligations until a new economic operator is appointed. The Government instructed the General Secretariat to call a procedure for a new economic operator. Whether it will be ESM or some other operator we cannot say in advance,” Bytyqi told reporters.   Asked if the Government is preparing to provide financial support in case ESM is selected as the new operator, Bytyqi said it should first be seen what the new price of heating will be, and then consider whether any financial support will be necessary.   “If ESM takes over the management of heating energy in Skopje, it would need to have adequate financial resources, like any other company. I think they are going into this in a way they are going into any other investment,” said Bytyqi.   In addition, the Government is announcing measures to support the most vulnerable categories of citizens who have no heating alternatives.   “The Ministry of Finance is already working on designing such measures to support the most vulnerable categories. The measures should be targeted and aimed at low-income families,” Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said.
