Bytyqi: Great prospects for Belgian-Macedonian economic and investment relations

Skopje, 13 June 2023 (MIA) - Possibilities for deepening the economic and trade relations with Belgium were topics discussed at Tuesday's meeting between Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to North Macedonia, based in Sofia, Frédéric Meurice.

Deputy PM Bytyqi and Ambassador Meurice emphasized that economic cooperation between the two countries is solid and expressed hope that the trade balance will continue its positive growth, the Government said in a press release.

Ambassador Meurice informed Deputy PM Bytyqi about the interest of businesses linked to Belgium that operate in North Macedonia, including those established in Belgium with strong connections to North Macedonia, to make their presence and activities official in the country by forming a business club/forum, Belgium-North Macedonia, which will encourage a larger presence of Belgian companies in the country.

Deputy PM Bytyqi said the prospects of Belgian-Macedonian economic, trade and investment relations are great, and informed on the possibilities North Macedonia offers to foreign investors.

Bytyqi noted that in 2022, North Macedonia harmonized the customs rates of 258 raw materials for industrial production with those of the EU, thus equalizing the operating conditions of foreign companies with domestic businesses, and informed Ambassador Meurice about the introduction of the ADA digital assistant, which will help foreign investors answer questions about investment conditions and methods of obtaining government assistance, the press release reads. ssh/ik/
