Skopje, 11 March 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi says domestic companies will make over EUR 600 million for the construction of the Corridor 8 and 10d motorways.
"The agreement reads that 51 percent of contractors must be domestic companies, which means that EUR 650 million out of the total EUR 1.3 billion will end up in domestic businesses," Deputy PM Bytyqi told radio Kanal 77.
Bytyqi says Corridor 8 is part of the pan-European corridors, which means that the European Union can, for the first time on record, provide funds for road construction based on annual applications.
Regarding the Government decision to cap prices of certain food products, the Deputy PM says such step is taken only in a situation when the other side fails to act in a moral and ethical manner.
"The Government has shown is wants to help and has done this, but when subsidizing companies in a time of crisis, it is done to help them get through this period not increase their profit, as well as to ensure lower prices for citizens," says Bytyqi.
