Bytyqi – Aggeler: Essential for country to maintain European strategic direction

Skopje, 13 October 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economic affairs, Fatmir Bytyqi, and the U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela Aggeler, held a meeting Friday with representatives of the Euro-Atlantic Council of North Macedonia, during which they concluded that the country's full-fledged NATO membership has ensured security and stability, as the basic prerequisites for economic growth and the country’s development, thereby enabling a predictable environment for commerce and investments, said the Government in a press release Friday.

In the context of the country’s Euro-integration processes, at the meeting it was jointly assessed that the country’s NATO membership plays a key role, “demonstrating the country’s commitment to democratic values, stability, and international cooperation, which is essential for full-fledged EU membership.”

“The meeting affirmed the position that it is essential for North Macedonia to maintain its European strategic direction, as the only direction that promotes peace and leads to prosperity of society as a whole,” said the Government in the press release.
