Sofia, 1 February 2022 (BTA/MIA) — Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev said Tuesday that the Jan. 18 visit to Skopje by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov came too early. "I believe the Prime Minister's visit was paid too early. I have talked to him honestly about that," Radev said as he took a reporter's question.
He argued that it is important to let Bulgarian diplomacy do its job and use its professional capacity "rather than rely on outside experts and non-government organizations, and give in to external pressure".
"Any rash steps by the Bulgarian government or a hasty positive message can be misinterpreted as a concession by Bulgaria," said Radev.
He took reporters' questions before joining The World Ahead 2022 gala dinner held in Sofia by The Economist.
