Bulgarian President Radev inaugurated after re-election
Sofia, 22 January 2022 (MIA) – Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his Vice President Iliana Iotova on Saturday were inaugurated before kicking off their second term. “In the coming years, I will make sure this country does not stray from its path, and I will uphold sovereignty, the rule of law, security, and justice, because this is our long-term, irrevocable mission,” Radev said in an address at the inauguration held in Sofia, MIA reports from the Bulgarian capital. He said that his first term was dedicated to the fight for rule of law, democracy and unity in Bulgaria. Political change is only the first step, according to Radev. Saturday’s ceremony was the sixth inauguration in the past 25 years in Bulgaria and the second one where a re-elected president was sworn in. Bulgaria held presidential elections in November 2021.
