Bulgarian government approves country’s position for EU-Western Balkans Summit
Sofia, 29 September 2021 (MIA) – The Bulgarian government approved Wednesday the country’s position for the October 6 EU-Western Balkans Summit in Slovenia. Bulgaria supports the holding of the meeting, which this country sees as a logical continuation of the summits held in Sofia and Zagreb in 2018 and 2020, respectively. Bulgaria considers this a positive signal showing the EU's lasting commitment to the Western Balkans, and supports the forum being focused on the current socio-economic challenges facing the region, BTA has reported. "The Western Balkans are a top priority of the Bulgarian foreign policy. We are genuinely interested in all countries in the region becoming part of the European family. Our support is consistent, based on the key principles of personal achievements in the implementation of the criteria on the path to reforms and of the importance of maintaining goodneighbourly relations," reads the position.
