Bozhinovska-Rokas: EU support considered crucial in energy transformation process

Skopje, 23 August 2025 (MIA) – Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska held Saturday a working meeting with EU Ambassador to North Macedonia, Michalis Rokas to discuss energy reforms with an emphasis on updating the legislation and preparing new strategic documents.

Talks also focused on the implemented and planned activities of the Energy Ministry as part of the Reform Agenda, which will continue to be implemented with an increasing dynamic, the Ministry said. 

They discussed the EU support for North Macedonia through the IPA III framework, said the press release adding that financial and technical assistance, estimated at EUR 5.2 million, will be aimed at strengthening institutional and operational capacities for an effective energy policy and for tackling climate change as well as for preparing by-laws, cooperation with the municipalities and for analysing the implementation of green transition.

“The European Union is a strategic partner of our country in the energy transformation process. The support we get through IPA facilities is key to build more efficient institutions, to improve the legislation and to provide a sustainable and safe energy future for the citizens,” said Minister Bozhinovska. 

“The meeting confirmed that the European Union remains a key ally of the country in implementing the green energy transition and meeting the climate goals,” stated the press release.
