Bozhinovska, Otsuka discuss strengthening cooperation with Japan in energy and mining

Skopje, 25 October 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska met Friday with the Ambassador of Japan Kazuya Otsuka. 

Talks focused on strengthening cooperation with Japan in the field of energy, mining and development of mineral resources, the Minister's Office said in a press release. 

Minister Bozhinovska expressed gratitude for Japan's support to the country in various areas, highlighting the importance of Japanese technology and expertise in the energy sector.

"Our country faces challenges in energy transition and sustainable development. Cooperation with Japan can help us achieve our goals for sustainable energy and innovation," Bozhinovska pointed out. 

Ambassador Otsuka stressed the importance of the cooperation, pointing out that Japan is committed to investing in projects that will contribute to Macedonia's energy stability.

"Japanese companies possess advanced technologies and solutions that can help in the development of renewable energy sources and improvement of energy efficiency," said the Japanese ambassador.

"Interlocutors also discussed the possibility of implementing projects on renewable energy sources. Both sides agreed that investments in these areas will not only contribute to the energy independence of Macedonia, but also to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the fulfilment of climate obligations. In addition, Minister Bozhinovska and the Ambassador agreed that it is important to create conditions for more intensive cooperation between Macedonian and Japanese companies. In that regard, business forums and seminars will be organized to exchange information and experience, as well as to identify potential joint projects," reads the press release.

Minister Bozhinovska and Ambassador Otsuka, it adds, reaffirmed that joint efforts will continue, and future steps will be aimed at concrete projects and initiatives that will promote economic cooperation and contribute to the development of Macedonia.
