Bozhinovska - Lawson: Ready to expand British investments in energy, renewables, responsible mining

Skopje, 10 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Minerals Sanja Bozhinovska held a working meeting on Wednesday with United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador Matthew Lawson. 

Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the overall relations between the two countries, particularly highlighting the very high level of economic relations and the fact that the United Kingdom is one of the biggest investors in the country, Minister Bozhinovska Office said in a press release. 

"Minister Bozhinovska pointed out that the success stories of British investors in the last fifteen years in our country are the best signal that we are ready to expand investment activity in areas such as energy, renewables and responsible mining. Investments are a priority, and she hopes for further investments by British companies in the country, as well as cooperation towards improving professional staff for the needs of this sector," reads the press release.

In addition, the press release adds, highlighting the allied relations with the United Kingdom within the NATO Alliance, Minister Bozhinovska noted that North Macedonia is more than interested in exchanging experience in dealing with challenges in terms of the security of critical energy infrastructure, both in cyberspace and in reality.

"The Minister briefed the Ambassador on the mission and priorities of the new Ministry ahead of the upcoming visit to the United Kingdom within the European leaders meeting, noting that she expects active cooperation with British partners, as well as more frequent meetings in the coming period," the press release reads.
