Bozhinovska and EBRD’s Ruhe discuss ongoing and potential energy projects at meeting

Skopje, 30 June 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, held a working meeting Monday with Charlotte Ruhe, Managing Director for Central and South-Eastern Europe at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which focused on ongoing energy projects in Macedonia, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral resources said in a press release.
“EBRD is committed to supporting Macedonia in its energy development and our partnership demonstrates our shared goal – increasing energy security and the green economy in the region,” Ruhe stressed.

The Ministry said the meeting reaffirmed the commitment to intensify dialogue and develop new projects that will contribute to the green transition and economic growth in the country.
The meeting especially emphasized the significance of the development of the Bogdanci 2 wind park and the progress on the interconnector with Greece, which will contribute to boosting energy stability and integration within the regional market. The EBRD expressed special interest in making use of the hydropower potential in the country, with a focus on the opportunities provided by the Kozjak hydro power plant.

“The Ministry reaffirmed its strong commitment to partnership with the EBRD, which it considers a key strategic ally in the process of energy transition and sustainable development. Both parties agreed that continuing the successful cooperation will be essential to the improvement of the energy infrastructure and the strengthening of the country’s energy security,” the Ministry said in its press release.
