Skopje, 2 October 2024 (MIA) -- Polish writer Paweł Beręsewicz will attend Wednesday the book launches in Skopje and Veles for the Macedonian translation of his latest novel for young readers "Whispered" ("Szeptane," 2023). The launches will take place at Miladinov Brothers City Library and the Veles Europe House, organizers said.

Beręsewicz's book was translated from the Polish by Zvonko Dimoski. It was published in Macedonian under the title „Шепотено“ (Bata press, 2024) with the support of the European Union's Creative Europe program and the Ministry of Culture.

The book was released under the publisher's "For Their Future" imprint, a series of 15 books for children and young adults by 15 renowned European authors. Several of them are expected to attend the Skopje and Veles launches planned for their books in Macedonian during 2024.

According to the publisher, Beręsewicz's "Whispered" is a story of high schoolers who organize on social networks to earn money for tickets to watch the Champions League final. But some of the jobs are morally questionable and make them wonder if they should do them just to go to a football match.

Paweł Beręsewicz (b. 1970, Warsaw) is a writer of novels, short stories and poems for young readers as well as a translator. He has a degree in English from the University of Warsaw and has taught English at the Reytan High School in Warsaw.

His books include "Stories (Not) for Everyone"(2017), "More than a Club" (2016), "The Man with the Red Flag" (2015), "Let There Be Chocolate" (2011), "Is War for Girls?" (2010), "Do Writers' Tummies Rumble?" (2009), "For Example, Małgośka" (2008), "How I Fell in Love with Kasia the Flower" (2005), and "Rescue Operation" (2005).

He has translated into Polish Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," Frances Hodgson Burnett's "The Secret Garden," Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables," and other books. He has won many national and international children's book awards. mr/
